Medical Issues

Prior to your assignment, ensure you’ve located where medical is located onsite and the radio channel on which you can reach medical. If you need to call for medical, please follow the items below.

  • Be specific on the exact location. For example, on the right side of hole 6, drive zone.
  • Be specific on the nature of the medical issue. For example, the player needs band aids for a blister, or a spectator was hit by a golf ball.
  • Be specific on person involved. For example, the spectator is wearing a pink shirt and navy shorts.
  • Whenever possible, stay with the situation or player until medical arrives onsite.
  • Alert the Championship Director or Chief Referee or Rules Lead if the medical issue will delay lay of the group involved. If player is delaying play due to a medical issue, keep a timer running on the time that play is delayed to manage the 15 minutes a player may take for a medical issue. Only time that the player is delaying play counts towards the 15 minutes. For example, any care given while the group is waiting on the tee for the green to clear on a par 3 would not count.
