Arriving and Preparing for an Assignment

When you arrive to the course prior to your assignment, you should check-in to the Rules Office. It’s beneficial for the office manager to know you’ve arrived onsite and will be ready for your assignment. Depending on what time your assignment begins, please respect the opening time of the Rules Office by not entering the office before that time. This gives the staff enough time to prepare the office and be ready for your arrival. Make sure to give yourself enough time to check-in, grab breakfast or lunch prior to your assignment and get on-course with time to spare.

You need to get the necessary paperwork for the day (see the next section for the full list of items to have with you), including checking for any updates to assignments, Notice to Players, Hole by Hole Notes or other items.

You also need to pick up your radio or if cellular radios are being used, ensure you arrive with your charged radio. Prior to leaving the office, make sure that your radio and earpiece works so if there any issues you can resolve them prior to your assignment. Please do not do any radio checks on the Rules channel. You can use an open channel and another person to do a radio check. More guidance on radio use can be found here

Lastly, please be courteous to those conducting business in the Rules Office, this is not an area to congregate or “hang out.” The dining area is a great place to congregate with fellow Referees before or after your assignment.
