Leadup to the Championship
- Print/read the Committee Memo in full sent by the Championship Director. It will include details on the Championship Host Hotel and other travel information.
- Confirm the required attire for the championship and all social functions to ensure you bring all that is necessary (jacket, tie, button-down shirt, Refereeing uniform, etc.). Generally, amateur championships will have more social functions than open championships. It’s helpful to check the weather for the championship to ensure you have layers/gear for the week.
- Visit the GolfGenius site via the link provided by the Championship Director/Manager. It will cover crucial championship information as well as list other Committee Members (CM) attending.
- Respond to the Championship Survey before the deadline. The cut-off date is important for CM’s benefit (e.g., hotel rates), but also so we are aware of all attendees.
- Familiarize yourself with the locations provided prior to arriving via Google Maps or Google Earth (hotel, clubhouse, course layout, parking, etc.).
- Keep a close eye on your email for any championship related updates and respond accordingly.
- If plans change and you’re unable to attend the championship, please let the Championship Manager know as soon as possible. Additionally, if while onsite your availability changes, please notify the Championship Manager as soon as possible.
- Review the championship’s micro-site on USGA.org including the Inside the Field and Fast Facts articles. Make note of past USGA champions in the field who you may interact with in your assignments.
