Arrival at the Championship 

• Upon arrival, visit the Rules Office and check in with the Championship Manager. You’ll receive your credentials and all necessary onsite Championship information. 

• Become familiar with the USGA Staff, Executive Committee onsite, key host club staff, and especially the Rules team members and Chief Referee or Rules Lead. 

• Make note of date/time Rules Office will be open for arriving CMs. 

• Take a tour of the clubhouse facilities, which are available to the Committee. Generally, at open championships, we are unable to provide locker rooms for Referees. At amateur championships, depending upon the site, locker rooms may be provided. Please ask the Championship Manager or Director if you are unsure what facilities are available to you.  

• Tour the golf course and review the current draft of the Notice to Players and Hole-by-Hole Notes. Familiarize yourself with your assigned areas and raise any questions for the Rules team as needed.
